Lent

Our world captured in the clouds.

I was gifted with an e-mail with the Lord's Prayer this morning and I sent it on in hope that the promises become real for each and everyone of us.    It is the beginning of Holy Week and I am wondering if the old traditions are in order;  the blessing of the candle; Holy Water; Palms; the Stations of the Cross and the statues covered in purple.   As children we spent the better part of the week within the confines of a chapel or church and our knees knew no rest as they didn't have padded kneelers in my young days.     The preparation for Easter was solemn as we relived the crucifixion .   This week there was a program on the History channel telling of the finding of the Dead Sea Scrolls that was very interesting.   Imagine writings from the time Jesus walked upon this earth and you are reading the events of the day as they were happening.    The scrolls have been stolen, bartered and even a new digital method has been devised to help the experts try and save them so they can be saved for all to read.   Now that is history.

Another e-mail  was an article from the Plain Dealer Newspaper of Cleveland from the perspective of a ninety-year old woman  and her wisdom thought to be insightful.
Perspective on life.

1.  Life isn't fair, but it is still good;   2.  Life is too short . . . enjoy it.   3.  Cry with someone.  It's more healing than crying alone.  4.  Don't compare your life to others.  You have no idea what their journey is all about.   5.  Take a deep breath.  It calms the mind.   6.  Over prepare, then go with the flow.  7.  Be eccentric now.  Don't wait for old age to wear purple.  8.  What other people think of you is none of your business.  9.  Don't take yourself so seriously.  No one else does.  10.  However good or bad a situation is, it will change.   11.  Don't audit life.  Show up and make the most of it now.  12.  Get outside every day.  Miracles are waiting everywhere.   13.  Yield.   14.  Life isn't tied with a bow, but it is still a gift.  15.  If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's, we'd grab ours back.  16.  Believe in miracles.  17,  It's never too late to be happy.  But is is all up to you and no one else.  18.  Make peace with your past so it won't interfere with the present.
You know what it said...Wisdom comes with age . . . so, don't waste your seconds, become wiser every day as you read or listen to those who have already learned a lot about living as they progressed to ninety or better.    Life is a learning experience and just about the time you think you have gotten the hang of it, something new and different comes along and you have to start all over again.     We learn from our mistakes, you know those little events when we thought we were in the know and no one could tell us any different . . .  that is why we are all so smart.      So I'd add to the list, keep a smile in your eyes,  love in your heart , pick yourself up and start all over again....yeah...I'm humming.   Make this week a week in which you catch up with your inner self and do some thinking about how you want your future to be.   As I often told my children, 'you get out of life what you put into it, no more, no less'.     A week to get yourself all together and be ready for new beginnings.  Hugs to all.
