Easter Sunday

The e-mail attachment yesterday was all about an artist . . . a chocolate artist named Andrew Farrugia who worked over 700 hours to make this chocolate choo choo . . . 112 feet long and weighs 2,755 pounds.  It made the Guinness World Record.    I can imagine some children being let loose on that. . . what a ride. . .

Go Wisconsin . . .

It is Easter Sunday morning, a bit of rain here, but a promise to clear a bit later.     I had a special picture in mind to put up this morning.  Christ with his arms open wide . . . and all we would have to do is walk into that hug and smile.   I have it in one of my picture folders but which one?   Wish I knew.     You will just have to sit quietly and think about that special image and know that those arms are spread wide just for you.    So, put on your Easter Bonnet and greet your family and friends with a twinkle in your eye, a handful of flowers and a box of chocolates and stop by the bakery and pick up some jelly donuts to share.  I am putting my coffee pot on just in case you find a way to my door.      Go . . . with your new beginnings and make yourself into the best and beautiful person you are. . . Happy Easter . . . Happy Spring . . . Happy New Beginnings.   Hugs to all.

Travel

A curious and hungry bear did a little pawing job on this plane.  The pilot had ferried in some fishermen in the back woods of Alaska and there was no way out

until he radioed for some plastic and some duct tape . . . yep, that tape is one you should not leave home without....they actually flew the plane out and back home to safety.

Erin and Donaleo are traveling in style

visiting new places

and new cities.   This one is of Istanbul, Turkey and Erin writes that it is a huge city, very crowded, lots of heavy duty smokers.  She is delighted in finding people are warm and friendly and seem to know a lot more about Americans that we do about them.    She is finding a whole new world exists out there and she is anxious to get on her way, this time to Greece.

It is Easter Saturday, finally lent is coming to its end . . . I don't know about you, but Holy Week is endless as far as I am concerned.    The Lenten fast ends at noon today for me, an old tradition from a long time ago.    This was a day when the windows were washed inside and out and it was such fun to have a play mate who was willing to wash one side while you did the other.   If the job was well done then you got your ten cents for a movie and a few extra pennies for a stop at the candy store where you could choose what is now 'barrel' candy at specialty stores.    If I had known we were going to have a warm sunny afternoon on Good Friday, I would have planned a window washing around here as it sure needs it.  Instead, I walked u to Freddys with my little wheel walker and bought a few items I needed.  I really didn't need the chicken curry but it was really delicious and I enjoyed every bite.   I had fun in the grocery store, walking around and meeting new people.   One lady, in the candy isle was trying to choose which chocolate treat she wanted.  We struck up a conversation about our being without chocolate for lent and tried to define what the first bite would taste like.   I told her that in my own experience with no sugar for lent, the first bite of chocolate tasted like soap.  She really didn't want to hear that.   She had to laugh and she reached out and gave me a finger touch, blessing me for making her day as she chose a big solid chocolate Easter bunny.     Not me, I went for the black jelly beans...a whole packet of them...along with another in colors for my rabbit candy dish sitting on the dining room table.    I can't fill it until tomorrow though as I know me, and if I started tasting today there would be none for tomorrow.
So go shopping today for your favorite candy and or sweets.    I have cut up the strawberries and they are resting in a big bowl ready for desert tomorrow, all I have to do is put the biscuits together and remember to defrost the cream.  I hope you choose your favorite foods and deserts and are ready for your Easter celebration.    Don't forget to share, buy an extra bag of candy,  or two, and give it to the food bank so others, less fortunate than you, can have a Happy Easter too.    If you feel real posh throw in a ham and a few cans of tasty peas and sweet potatoes.  There are so many ways to share hugs . . . um . . . think about that!   Hugs to all.

BIG

The only flag that doesn't fly . . . between the fields are miles of flower fields which go all the way to the ocean.  I think I've shown this picture a long time ago, but, it is worth a second peek.   The flowers are grown  by seed companies and then planted in a field at Vandenberg Air Force Base.  The flag is 740 ft. long and 390 ft. wide . . .maintains proper flag dimensions described in Executive Order #10834.  It covers 6.65 acres and the first flag planted with five pointed stars comprised of white larkspur.  Star is 24ft in diameter, each stripe 30 feet wide and contains 400,000 larkspur plants with 4-5 flower stems each...two million flowers ...for each and everyone of our soldiers.    Doesn't that make you sit up and take notice . . . God Bless America.

Now here is a big rig....how would you like to take a ride in that?    I wouldn't be able to get myself up into that cab unless it had an elevator.

Here are the particulars.     Wow....one big baby to play with....

Well, everyone is showing baby bunnies and all that good stuff for Easter. . . I thought we might like a peek at a handsome young fellow who has his tail up and ready to spray. . . I think the bunnies are cuter though and don't make such a 'stink' about holidays.

Today is Good Friday, a day to visit your church and light a candle.    I was over to the Star of the Sea Catholic church which sits up on a hill and has the cleanest most empty parking lot in town.   Where are the people?    I light my candles there and have yet to find anyone in the church.    Sunday go to meeting folks I guess.    The inner church is covered in the Lenten purples and the holy water fonts are empty.   If tradition was followed then the blessing of the holy water should be tomorrow and the fonts refilled.   On Sunday the alter will be ablaze of white and the large Pascal candle will stand tall and straight and hopefully the church will resound with music and blessings for all.   I hope you are all preparing for a blessed Easter Sunday and enjoy the day.     Take time out to visit the church of your choice.   While you are up and dressed in your finery, take a friend or two to breakfast and enjoy a buffet or one of those lovely omelets with a side of biscuits and gravy...yum....I'm more than ready.....wish I could join you, or you could join me. . . wouldn't that be fun!!   Go . . . make today a memorable one.   Hugs to all.

Yum!

The Sierras . . . always special and I miss the views.    Jennifer caught this shot as the rain was hitting the snow on the mountain top and made it look like a water fall.     Thanks to her Facebook entries I get to copy a picture of Nevada scenes and still smile as some folks think of Nevada as one of the ugly states.   It certainly has a lot of brown patches but it also has more beauty than one can imagine.    It really is one of my favorite places.  I am looking forward to a trip with my son John this year to go and visit son Michael, my friend Helen and her family and catch up with some of the old haunts.  I will take my camera and share a tale or two when I return.

Now this is clever and one way to wish everyone a Happy Easter.    How sweet and how colorful.   Bet they taste great.

wild turkey country . . . Jock and Patricia were out walking around this area.     It looks a bit wild to me, can almost see a bear or two . . . this city bred gal has no sense of the wild;   It is truly beautiful and you can hear silence, unless you have a 'turkey caller' and make a special noise to call them out and they come at full run and so would I, the other way....to each his own, I'll stick to buying my turkey at the market place.

It is Thursday of Holy Week, two more Lenten days and then Easter Sunday will be here....Yeah!!!  About time, I am beginning to think lent will be going on forever as my taste buds perk up when I see all the Easter specials.   I am thinking of what desert I would like to have and, at this moment, it is strawberry short cake, one of my most favorites.   The new berries in the market are beautiful in color and size, so maybe I'll  make up some biscuits and that will be my special treat.  I still have a couple of days to make up my mind.    How about you?    Are you planning to prepare a big ham feast?    What is your favorite desert?     Will you be the chief cook and bottle washer?    Or, will you go out to a fancy brunch and just relax and enjoy a special buffet?    Whatever you decide, may you find delicious food to eat, good company to enjoy and don't forget to toast the end of lent and the beginning of a new Spring and brand new beginnings to your life.    Sprout up through the winter blahs and become a useful loving human being with a smile in your eyes and warm and loving arms to hug with . . .good deeds for special needs .   Hugs to all.

Friends

Spring beauties to make you lighten up and smile today, perky little devils pushing their way through winter's  hard ground.

In far away Istanbul, granddaughter Erin met up with an old friend and some new ones.   A bevy of beauties. . . all smiling with their eyes....how could you not have a great time.

Pat's friend found her way to Istanbul and they met .   Oh the tales they can tell.

I had to laugh at this card . . . well, a fella has to have something to do while he waits for the big one.

It is Hump Day . . . Wednesday, all day, raining here...what else!!  Delay in clipping out in the yard, the grass is growing by leaps and bounds and I will have to push that powerless mower again soon.    No magic handy man around, was hoping to give old faithful Chon a reprieve but no takers as yet.    It is just a good thing I have a small grass area.   Yesterday we went to lunch and met an old friend, another Jean, and we went to the Super Fly which is for the very young, not for a meeting to sit and have conversation.   It is the nosiest place in town, the food is okay, not something I brag about, but okay.  They even serve a potato sandwich. something like crushed french fries mixed with chipottle sauce and a few strands of lettuce and put in in tortillas.   Brave Jock joined four ladies, bless his heart and his spirit, and ordered one.  He ate it but I am wondering if he had enough as it didn't look very big.   Marcia and I had the huge hamburger, mine without all the fancy cheeses and that was more than enough.    Jean had the chicken salad and Pat had the soup specialty which is enough to feed a family.    We tried to have conversations but it was like being in the middle of a shouting match.    Not my favorite stop as you can see, but it was fun to be out and about and see Jean again.  We agreed to do it again soon in a quiet place.  I stopped in at Bi-Mart and the aisles are filled with Easter flowers and Easter candies.   I chose a few jelly beans for the candy rabbit dish on my table but didn't dare put them out before Sunday as they would disappear.   My table is clear of jig saw puzzles and when Marcia came in she immediately said. . . 'where's the puzzle' . . . she loves to find a piece or two when she visits.    With the weather about to change to warm and sunshine days, it is better to be outside and getting some yard work done and some exercise and fresh air. So take a walk around your block today;   greet a neighbor with a smile;    enjoy the sights and sounds and pick a quiet spot if you decide to lunch out today.     Don't forget to smile with your eyes and if you are passing out hugs, verbal or otherwise, don't forget to come this way.    Hugs to all.

Spring in Delaware

Historical Old Houses in Old New Castle.    John took his camera for a walk around the neighborhood.
It has been a long time since I have seen row houses.    Each one is different, not like the old Boston brownstones that all looked alike.    The street doesn't look to wide with all those cars needing spaces to park.   Parallel parking, I'd never make it...smile.
A cemetary close by.

A special building but John didn't add any captions ...really a lovely building, old and well preserved.   Wish we could see what the flag is.   The tree reminded me of "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn"  cement and all.

William Penn.

Jo's house where all that remodeling is going on inside...well the plans are in the offering and work will soon begin.  John has all the knobs and the lock sets all ready for the inside doors.    I hope they are taking some before and after pictures and send them this way.     They are looking up the history of these houses and there will be a tale to tell.    Meanwhile, spring greeted them with many storms and they were lucky when the "Sandy" storm went by and left them without flooding and other problems.    A little apring snow isn't all bad and I hear the garden flowers are peeking through.

Hey, it's Tuesday, all day, lent is ending..yeah!!!   I am looking forward to Easter Brunch.  There are no visitors, no family to entertain for Easter Sunday so Patricia and I will celebrate all by ourselves.   We get to break the no sweets sabbatical of lent and indulge to buldge but I am betting ham and eggs will take prescidence or one of those vegie omelets, or a granny special with biscuits and gravy . . . yum . . . Easter Sunday can't come soon enough to suit me.   And,  a stop at the casino and try out luck is in the offering.    The ceramic bunny is on the table waiting for jelly beans, hopefully the sun will shine for at least a little while so the children can celebrate the lighter side of Easter hunting those colorful eggs.    Meanwhile the church folks will go and be up lifted as the Easter whites bring light and blessings to all.  Dont' forget to go shopping, they now have Mary Jane's in adult sizes. . . smile!   Make your list and check it at least twice;   choose your favorite foods and 'gussie up' and feel the buden of lent drift off to the 'light' that changes our world.    Light a candle for me, and while you are at it, remember the troops, the sick, the dead and the dying and as the old Irish would say, "God, give them a limp, so I'll know my enemies." Put a smile in your eyes, a lilt in your voice and make your Easter mean something special.   Five days and counting!!  Hugs to all.

P.S. . . . Finished Puzzle

Thomas Kincaid puzzle, all thousand pieces, all finished ....Amen!!!    This puzzle was a challenge.  It had about six different kinds of pieces so it made it very difficult to find the right piece for the right spot.   If you haven't tried a jig saw puzzle lately, do....it keeps you organized and far from bored.      The puzzle board is really great and keeps the pieces from straying....still, one got away and this is the fourth brand new puzzle that has had one piece missing when completed.     Emma, our lovely Golden Retriever looks like she might be interested but she hasn't spit any piece out of her mouth so we cannot blame her....no one else admits to wanting to put in the very last piece, so it has to be a fairy, an imp or a banshee.     Hugs to all.

Lent

Our world captured in the clouds.

I was gifted with an e-mail with the Lord's Prayer this morning and I sent it on in hope that the promises become real for each and everyone of us.    It is the beginning of Holy Week and I am wondering if the old traditions are in order;  the blessing of the candle; Holy Water; Palms; the Stations of the Cross and the statues covered in purple.   As children we spent the better part of the week within the confines of a chapel or church and our knees knew no rest as they didn't have padded kneelers in my young days.     The preparation for Easter was solemn as we relived the crucifixion .   This week there was a program on the History channel telling of the finding of the Dead Sea Scrolls that was very interesting.   Imagine writings from the time Jesus walked upon this earth and you are reading the events of the day as they were happening.    The scrolls have been stolen, bartered and even a new digital method has been devised to help the experts try and save them so they can be saved for all to read.   Now that is history.

Another e-mail  was an article from the Plain Dealer Newspaper of Cleveland from the perspective of a ninety-year old woman  and her wisdom thought to be insightful.
Perspective on life.

1.  Life isn't fair, but it is still good;   2.  Life is too short . . . enjoy it.   3.  Cry with someone.  It's more healing than crying alone.  4.  Don't compare your life to others.  You have no idea what their journey is all about.   5.  Take a deep breath.  It calms the mind.   6.  Over prepare, then go with the flow.  7.  Be eccentric now.  Don't wait for old age to wear purple.  8.  What other people think of you is none of your business.  9.  Don't take yourself so seriously.  No one else does.  10.  However good or bad a situation is, it will change.   11.  Don't audit life.  Show up and make the most of it now.  12.  Get outside every day.  Miracles are waiting everywhere.   13.  Yield.   14.  Life isn't tied with a bow, but it is still a gift.  15.  If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's, we'd grab ours back.  16.  Believe in miracles.  17,  It's never too late to be happy.  But is is all up to you and no one else.  18.  Make peace with your past so it won't interfere with the present.
You know what it said...Wisdom comes with age . . . so, don't waste your seconds, become wiser every day as you read or listen to those who have already learned a lot about living as they progressed to ninety or better.    Life is a learning experience and just about the time you think you have gotten the hang of it, something new and different comes along and you have to start all over again.     We learn from our mistakes, you know those little events when we thought we were in the know and no one could tell us any different . . .  that is why we are all so smart.      So I'd add to the list, keep a smile in your eyes,  love in your heart , pick yourself up and start all over again....yeah...I'm humming.   Make this week a week in which you catch up with your inner self and do some thinking about how you want your future to be.   As I often told my children, 'you get out of life what you put into it, no more, no less'.     A week to get yourself all together and be ready for new beginnings.  Hugs to all.

Engineers

The city of Dubai, oil money put to work, but as the story goes the buildings were put up with no cost to spare but they didn't bother putting in a sewer system so they  have special trucks to haul away all the excess;  I gather they have made changes since they discovered their fatal errors.

Now this is an engineer . . . you can bet your bottom dollar that this home has it all.

You have to admit how ingenious our birds are.

Over in Japan this very different museum was built, now this is really an engineering feat.  This picture came from Andrea  by way of Wendy, her daughter, who lives and teaches over in Japan.    They visited  Wendy, and enjoyed seeing this museum which is small and has a very unique design. The roof curves and the line follows the line of gravity and the center of the building concave into a pool.  There is an outside patio and the second floor has a cafe and sitting space overlooking the pool.    She tells that the outside looks nice but gives little hint to what is inside.    So our engineers give us food for thought and ideas of how wonderful it is to travel and see what is in our world.  Thank you Andrea for sharing your photographs and stories with me and allowing me to share them on this blog.

It is Sunday, all day, and if we are lucky there will be sunshine, hopefully without the cold wind.  Winter doesn't want to let go this year.    The television had scenes of terrible winter storms still raging throughout our land.    New England is to be hit once again, but those hardy souls are used to it and although I am sure they have had more than their share, they will survive and enjoy spring when it gets here.  I have been enjoying a scrabble game with daughter Christine.  I would love to play with others as well but my old computer keeps kicking me out and I have to keep going back in so it is not conducive to group playing.    I'd like to complain to the 'engineers' of the computer world and although we need change and updates on our computers we certainly do not need to have so many so fast that our computers are old before they are paid for.     There  are many programs that do not need updating and change;  well, that is my opinion and I'm stuck with it.     It really is a marvelous engineering feat and I am very glad I have a computer to use.    So get on your computer today and greet a friend or two;  share a game, some verbal hugs and keep up with all the news.   Today is a new day to enjoy doing just what you like to do . . . rest and relax.    Do it . . . it's very good for you.   Hugs to all.

More as Promised

The beautiful cacti of Arizona, colors to make the heart sing.  How can one look at a prickly cactus and think such beauty will emerge.  Makes me think of people and how many surprise us with their inner beauty.

Different . . . like people, all different and all with a beauty all their own.   We just have to stop and peek and find what is hidden in within the folds of their outside covers.

Blue Bells, the color of Mary's cape, a sign of hope.   Think of the aspirations you can say when you find a field or even a roadside covered with the magic blue flowers.    How can one imagine the suffering of this one mother who had to stand by and watch her only son crucified.     Lent brings about a reminder of the historical times when injustice and fear spread like a field of wild flowers;    is history repeating itself today?

Here is Donaleo inside of what could be a special church or mosque in Istanbul, Turkey.     He looks like he removed his shirt.  I have heard of removing ones shoes but a shirt??? I have to wait for some words from him as to the where and why of this particular visit.    It will be a great celebration when he and Erin return from their wanderings and show us all of their pictures and tell the tales that go with them.  Be patient.  I'll share.

So, today is Saturday, the first day of your weekend.    One more week of lent and then Easter Sunday.    I wonder what the weather will be like as I do remember Easter mornings when there was snow falling and the children went off to church in their Easter finery covered in snow suits.    The Mary Janes waited until they could take the boots off.   But, there were many an Easter Sunday that turned out to be warm with sunshine and it was such fun to see the Easter Parade when ladies wore hats, big hats, with flowers.    Like most holidays there are special foods associated with the day and Easter seems to have taken on ham as its leader although I think lamb was the choice many years ago when spring lambs came about and the older ones became the baked leg of lamb with mint jelly or a crowned roast that looked like a king's crown.   What ever you choose for your special Easter feast, I hope it is delicious and tender and you will find ways to share with family and friends.     Meanwhile there is a food bank in need;    candles that need lighting and a hand of friendship to be shared.     Easter means awakening, so wake up and smell the spring flowers and get on with living the best life you can.  Don't forget to smile with your eyes and if you are handing out a hug or two, I'll be first in line.     Hugs to all.

Spring Beauties

Springtime in Green Valley, Arizona where Bob and Andrea reside among the beautiful cacti.   Andrea went for a bike ride and took her camera with her.   She was bent on finding a few photos for my blog.    She told me she had a lot of fun and met a neighbor who had a yard filled with an assortment of beautiful colors of cacti.    Imagine these just growing wild.     She found flowers of all kinds and I will add a few more pictures tomorrow and share their beauty with you.

Beauty surrounds us, all we have to do is open up our eyes and look.     Spring, Easter and the renewal of our earth.  Of course, in some parts of our country we are still having the last of winter and it isn't going out easily.    Folks are tired of ice and snow , cold and shivering . . . but think, soon they too will be finding signs of spring and their spirits will rise.

Speaking of Easter, last night on the television there was talk of our not using the word 'Easter' in our greetings . . . there are folks out there with little to do with the exception of creating pain and sorrow for those who want to live their lives with the traditions they believe in and were brought up with.   Like taking Christ out of Christmas, now they want to take him out of Easter . . . I think they will get the same response and we will all stand up and wish each other  a very Happy Easter and partake in the events of Holy Week leading up to a beautiful Easter Sunday with pride in our beliefs.  The 'they' can change what they want for themselves but I don't see why they have to try to change our world to suit themselves.   We are not blind sheep following new trends we do not believe in.     So join me and wish your family and friends a truly very Happy Easter!

It's Friday morning and the start of the last day of your week and the beginning of your upcoming weekend.    If you bike around , or hike around, your neighborhood take your camera with you and 'shoot' some of the new buds bursting from the ground . . . and you can send me a picture or two so I can blog about you.    " That's what friends are for....." don't forget to light a candle for all of your own reasons.   Be kind, be generous, be careful and take time to hug a friend today;  verbal hugs are good too you know.     Look at the ones I got from Andrea and Bob in my e mail yesterday . . . words and pictures with lots of love.    How lucky I am.    So, go . . . make someone smile today.   Hugs to all.

More . . .

That's what friends are for . . . humming . . . how lucky I am as I got not one but nineteen pictures from Andrea and Bob yesterday.   It was a beautiful day in Arizona and the early birds got out their bikes and went for a ride around a block or two.    Andrea took the camera along and we get to see a bit of early spring coming to life in the desert.

Well this little beauty is not a red robin, nor a cardinal, but has a beautiful name all its own but my memory bank went blank and I didn't make notes . . . sometimes I think I can remember everything but then there are days that let me know it will take awhile to think of a name, a place or a thing . . .so,  just stop and look and think spring, relax in the beauty of peace and quiet.

Blue Bells to admire, a lovely plant I haven't seen before.      love the color.
So dainty.   So wonderful and just right to be introduced to your garden.
Here is Jacob, friend Paula's grandson who is visiting Colorado and enjoying his first skiing lessons.  Here he was having a special ride and enjoying every minute of his winter vacation.    Way to go Jacob . . . enjoy your time and the snow.

Maybe the cruise ship people of the Carnival Line should hire Maxine to have a kind word or two about traveling aboard a cruise ship.   The news has been sad and pretty awful as either two, or three, or their ships have run into trouble this year.     There are some folks who will never make another cruise after their experiences, but then given a free trip, they might just try it one more time.

So today, Thursday all day, we are hoping for some sunshine and a visit from the new man who will tend the weeds; well someone has to.  He will take the easy way and pour some of that weed killer on them as it would be an impossible task to take them out root by root.   My neighbor has an elderly lady pulling the weeds from her flat rock area and I am surprised and amazed as she has to be in her sixties and is down on her knees without a pad, pulling the weeds out by their roots.     I mentioned to her that I admired her ability to get down on her hands and knees and she responded that it surprised her that she still could at her age.     Now that is a dauntless one.   I thought to hire her but then I'd feel guilty and soon I'd be down there on my hands and knees helping.

I read to Russell yesterday and he is almost to the end of his Wake Island story.    He looked pretty good with his new haircut and told me he had a great visit from an old sweetheart of some fifty years.     He told me that he wished he could be out and about traveling the world, but at ninety five, I gather . . . no, I know the feeling but also the limitations when one reaches a bit more than retirement age.     Don't wait if you have a desire to travel;  make it so you can do it while you have the abilities to enjoy every moment.     Arm chair travel isn't all bad, but it sure cannot take the place of the excitement of being 'there'.
I was also invited to the High Tea that held in the dining room area.  The tables look lovely with a small Easter ornament in the center of the table.    Each one had lovely tea cups, all different and very delicate.   The tea pots, all different in size and colors were on a table by the side and the lovely ladies poured.   They walked around with dishes of tiny cucumber sandwiches and deviled eggs and luscious red grapes.  The desert dishes were filled with tiny morsels to make any palette stand up and take notice.     I sat with three lovely ladies, one I had met on my first luncheon visit at the Macklyn House, Christine, and it was her birthday so we took time out to sing to her;  and the other a mother and daughter . . . Henrietta, called Hank, who told me she had five brothers and they called her Hank and it stuck.   She had on a very beautiful sweater I would like to have in my wardrobe, soft spun and soft with tiny seed pearls that looks so fabulous.  Her daughter Susan was friendly and had a lovely smile.    They left early so I sat alone for awhile, then went for a walk around the area until my ride was ready for home.     Most of the ladies were from the Emblem Club and they looked very lovely in their dress clothing.  It is unusual to see such fancy dresses early in an afternoon and seeing hats was really different.  Reminded me of the good old days when I used to wear a hat . . . well, I did;   it was in style in those days.    High Tea is special and I hope you get to attend one soon; don't forget to wear a hat.
All in all it was a hump day that went by much too fast.    The speaker was an artist who talked about being positive and making your life worthwhile;  not a wasted word from a lovely lady dressed in what looked like a cloud of organza and lace.    A little class;   and a lot of lovely ladies who work hard to make it nicer for those in this community.  So think positive;  smile with your eyes and reach out and make a new friend.   Hugs to all.

Little Bits

What a clever idea.  I have a closet in what I call the 'office' which could use an update , trouble it is that it is not as large an area as this one, but, it could still be of good use . . . all I need is a good carpenter to stop by and do a remodel of the entire room, then I could call it the library.

Bob and Andrea love the wild creatures that come for a visit. This little one looks lost, or maybe thought having its picture taken was a very important moment in its day.  How lucky I am they share their photos with me.

wild pigs make short work of something on the ground...hopefully they like weeds, if so maybe I can borrow a couple...but they are not as cute as the baby deer. . . strange looking little beasts.

Momma!!!!   Some fun to have such beautiful creatures roaming around the desert.
How alert they are and how quickly they move.     I wonder if they challenge the wild pigs at all.   I doubt it as the pigs look like they don't like to play . . . wonder if they like deer meat?   um......bad thought!

Did I say a couple of wild pigs.....wow.....I'm not sure I'd like having all of these creatures roaming around my back yard or even nearby.    Arizona is a wonderful state, such diversity, such interesting species of animals and snakes as well, but I am glad they are there and I am here with my weeds, my spiders, my moles  and a variety of birds to share my space with.    I am sure there are other 'stange' species about but you can bet I am not going out to look for them.

So today, hump day, a rainy day here, I am off to read to our Wake Island veteran and have been invited to stay for high tea.   I have no idea how dressed up the ladies will be, but you can rest assured I'll be in my usual costume of slacks and a pretty top and leave my sweat shirt behind.    I hope they have the heat turned up.    So go and make your seconds count today.   I hope you have an invitation to lunch out or in with a family member or a friend or two.    Wednesday is always a good day to do something a little bit different so it makes the week go by leaving you with a feeling of accomplishment and pride in having done some one good deed before your week is over.     You still have a week to make your Lenten season mean something as you take pride in accomplishments, and, hopefully first prize in the hug department....go, hug a friend or two.  Hugs to all.
