Black and White

A black and white magpie cuts a striking figure as it stands proudly watching its world go  by.

Imagine finding a rat this size...this one was found in a basement in the Bronx, New York.

There are no kind words to say to this guy who delights in showing how he feels about Americans.    I had no idea they had taken to manufacture these shirts by the thousands.    Well, we all know what goes around comes around and there will be a day when trouble finds its way to his country.

more giants...snails.....and I have a nerve to complain about the snails in my gardens which I thought were big enough.  Yuk!  wonder if  they eat these things!

The land owners have a saying to environmentalists "If you find an endangered species, shoot, shovel and shut up." That is supposedly a joke, but, it does happen and it's one more way the government regulations backfire.

"It will be of little avail to the people, that the laws are made by men of their own choice, if the laws be so voluminous that they cannot be read, or so incoherent that they cannot be understood."  James Madison, Federalist No. 62.  My history has a way of repeating itself, wonder what the forefathers would have to say about what is now ongoing in America.
The breaking news this morning is that the president has decided to give back five percent of his four-hundred-thousand and some income which amounts to twenty-thousand dollars a year. . . like a needle in a haystack. . . wont help a wounded warrior or feed a hungry family with no income at all, but . . . there is always a but, the gesture is to be meaningful and hopefully wake up a few of the billionaires to do likewise . . . can't you see them all writing their checks now?    Well, wait a minute, maybe they will give a percent or two and now how to decide where to put all that money. . . any ideas?   Now, now, don't be fresh, it is not becoming.

It is Hump Day, sure gets around a lot; seems I just said that.    We have a rainy week so the weathermen say, and the furnace is kicking on so it has to be a little chilly outside.    So much for spring gardening chores.   Well, they will wait, and I am sure we can find other things to keep us busy.    It is that time of year when you look around after a long winter and wonder if you could throw everything out the window and start anew.    I'd like a color change on the walls; something bright and beautiful and a change of curtains . . . well, it's only been ten years . . . quality tells every time.

I did read to Russell, the ninety four year old as he told me yesterday his birthday is May 4th and he was born in 1918.  He is a spry gentle man and we had finished his book on "Wake Island" so the ladies found another novel in the library room and brought it to him.  It is a novel about a Russian Sub  and a Johanson novel and hopefully he will find it interesting; although I wonder as he seemed to snooze through some of my reading.  Daughter Pat says it is my voice...it would be anyone to sleep...gee, thanks a lot. . . or maybe that is a good thing.    The novel has a lot of swear words and I dread coming to the sexy parts but then Russell says he has three lady friends so maybe he will take it all in stride....or he might sleep through it, time will tell.

Check your priorities for the today and put them in order;  get the hardest one done first and the rest will be a cinch.   If you smile, hum, and get the job done quickly today, you can treat yourself to your favorite dinner, put your feet up, watch a bit of news and relax as you feel like you have conquered your world.     Hugs to all.
