Delaware Parade

Everybody is waiting for the big parade.  It is 'Separation Day: in Delaware

A big thank you to my son John who attended the parade and did take his camera along. There is a lot of history right here in this small community.     John has been busy helping Jo with her historical house.    It dates back to the 1800's and they are finding out a lot of its history.    Hopefully they will let us in on some of it when they complete their projects.    John tells of sticky weather, but not bad, considering the east coast summer weather is what it is . . . hot and humid.

I love a parade.   The thrill of seeing the representatives of our armed services carrying our flag with pride.   The marching band with the big drums and the fife and drums;  bet there are some here.     It is just part of America and all of the reasons we find to celebrate the beginning of our  county as the drums go bang and the symbols clang and we stand to salute as all of the marchers go by.   What's not to love about a parade?

Yesterday proved to be a lovely day in parts as I talked Christine into going out to The Pancake House for breakfast only to find it closed.   Now, that is very unusual, especially this time of year.   We went further down the road to the casino and took part in the Sunday Buffet.  Now there are some Sundays this buffet is excellent but this was not one of them.   Not a lot of people so the food was not turned over and what was there looked good but was a bit to cool for my taste.    Of course that didn't stop me from filling my plate, can't let those strawberry blintzes just sit there.   They do have great biscuits and gravy although daughter Christine ignored them.   Of course I had to show Christine a few of my favorite machines.  She does not play, thinks they are mindless and of no interest.  I can't see it her way as I walked off with my own money and a few pennies of theirs.

We drove over to the Port to watch the waves as the wind was up and it was low tide.  The waves were coming in fast and furious and I cringed watching two little ones play by the water.  Not an adult in sight.    We have sneaker waves here and they are powerful and dangerous.    As we started to leave, the car decided it wasn't going anywhere...yeah a dead battery. . . off to the restaurant to make a call and then a very long wait for the rescue as a big fellow Mike came in with his huge truck and in two minutes had the battery charged and we were on our way.    We drove up the highway and gave the battery a chance to recharge and hopefully stay that way.

So let it be a reminder that you need to check out your car and make sure everything is as it should be.  It is just not fun to have a break down and wait and wait and wait....even if the sun is shining.     So make today a checkup day and get ready for your new week, hopefully planning a vacation to enjoy the lovely weather.  Summer does have a way of its own.   Be good, be smart, be careful and enjoy today . . . all day.  Hugs to all.
