Once Upon A Time

Once Upon A Time MacDonald's look just like this. . . a brand new fast food restaurant that took off like a lightening bolt and went world wide.   Once upon a time it cost fifteen cents for a hamburger with french fries . . . bet it is a bit more today.  I used to tell my children we were going out for a treat to a very fancy restaurant, and they loved it, come to think about it so did I.

A picture of the quake in San Francisco, I believe it was 1908 or close to it.    A never forgotten event that could happen again.   This coast is always on the move and we feel the vibrations and wonder if this is the next 'big one'.

The start of the castle in Disneyland, a new venture Walt Disney had in mind and wondered if it would be a success . . . what an imagination that man had. It's no wonder the world population beats a path to anything "Disney" . . . My last  Disney adventure was to Epoc when they only had a couple of countries finished.  I'd love to go back today and see the end results.   We didn't get to see a lot the day they were there as Ronald Reagan was President and making a visit so they had most of the areas cordoned off.  We wouldnt' have bothered him as we had much too much to see.

Remind me never to find fault with the wind again.   Isn't this a fantastic picture.    The pictures and story that came in with this yesterday was wonderful as it told of one of the horses being blind and the other wore a bell and took good care of his special friend and buddy.   We can all learn a lesson from that as there is more than one way of being 'blind' and a need for a good friend who loves you enough to 'take care of you'.    That is the kind of friends to have as they come with 'with bells on' to let you know how much they really care.     So today put a bell on and go and visit a friend or two.    Go socialize.    Speaking of being social I was invited to watch a lady demonstrate how to arrange some beautiful flowers.  She did two arrangements and both were beautiful and she made it look so easy.    Most plants need and love water and the combinations of types and colors are nothing short of a miracle.    There is a new species of carnation that looks like a Kelly green mound of wool, a hardy plant with very long stems.   The lovely Bird of Paradise and some other exotic plants including the lowly succulents made a beautiful arrangement.   I think the price tag, if they were up for sale, would have been around eighty dollars.    There was punch, coffee and cookies, new folks to meet and greet and it proved to be a lovely way to spend a couple of hours on a rainy day.    My ride home was delayed so I took advantage of Russell's good nature and we read for a half hour.   He was surprised and happy to get a second 'read' in this week, we've covered fifty six pages already.   I got home to find one of my daughter's neighbors stuck with a flat tire.  She was waiting for the truck to come to get her back on the road.   She had just had her tires checked and figured they forgot to tighten the stem so all the air got out of one of the tires.  She was not a happy camper as it took some time for the truck and driver to come.   I kept her company, invited her in for a cup of tea but she was afraid to leave her car.   I left when the driver came and she promised to come for tea another day.    One never knows what is in store for themselves in a day, so keep an open mind and heart and enjoy the adventures as they unfold.     Reach out with a smile in your eyes and open up those arms as a hug is always needed.   Do you know it is Friday already and you have a weekend coming up to enjoy;  make your seconds, each and every one of them, count as you share them with those you love.    Hugs to all.
