Compassion

The dictionary says that compassion is the deep feeling of sharing the suffering of another,, together with the inclination to give aid or support or to show mercy.  So many suffer from the auto-immune disease that have no cure....as yet, hopefully a day will come when these diseases will no longer exist and each one of us will be thankful we had the good sense and decency to help find a cure.  Give what you can, when you can.

There are no words to express the horror of what happened in Boston on Patriot's Day.    The Boston Marathon, a tradition, a right of passage, and a right that is being taken away.    A small votive candle is a prayer in itself;  light one today for the innocent crucified and injured by a person or persons who have lost their mind.

On to a small tale of compassion, heroism, and a mother's love .   The firemen were astounded to watch Amanda enter a burning building six times in spite of being singed and burned.  They hosed her down to try and help as she would not stop until each of her six puppies were saved.   The Emergency Veterinary Service rushed them all to the hospital and all survived, one puppy badly burned but now doing fine.

After her sixth trip she entered the fire truck she had chosen as a safe place and nursed her babies who were ten days old.    Some tales do have a happy ending.

Emma came to visit yesterday and daughter Pat had her camera in hand.    Emma comes in the door and immediately sits by my chair.  She usually puts her paw up to touch my arm and waits patiently for attention.   I asked where was my doggie kiss and she gave me a good one....

Remember "Lucy and her doggie kiss"  well now I know how wet they can be....'doggie kisses, doggie kisses' . . . you just haven't lived until you have been smooched by a dog.

So today, Tuesday, we are left with our feelings of sadness as we once again go through the heart rendering news of another tragedy, and we wait to hear who and why.   We question yet the answers are not there.     Hatred prevails and there should not be such anger and ugliness in our world but there is and we have to learn how to deal with it.  If this form of revenge and hatred continues, we will not be able to live our lives as we always have in openness and freedom.   We never seem to learn.  We have always been naive.   We give . . . we forgive . . . and we stand by and watch the same horror over and over.     It has to stop.   We have to do our own little bit to help make our own space a better and more compassionate place and it starts with ten little commandments.   You can laugh, but think about it.

Today is a day to say a prayer and light a candle and put a little light into our world;  you can do it . . . smile with your eyes, hug with those arms and get down on your knees for just a little while.    Hugs to all.
